A Motivational Alternative

Motives On Tap 4

Wishing all a Happy Memorial Day. Don't forget those that payed the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives for our freedoms. It's those brave men and women that paved the way for all of us. God Bless America.

Here's Today's Motive on Tap.

The brave die never, though they sleep in dust:
Their courage nerves a thousand living men.

Wow. What a Weekend.

"Sometimes a change of scenery is the best medicine. Especially if friends and good times are involved." -Kazie

My previous week involved a lot of mental beatings, physical workloads, and just a couple hard days at the office. Around 40 hours to be exact lol.

But I did what had to be done since I got bills to pay and needed the extra cash. Plus working at a job that I actually enjoy is an extra bonus in my view. Moving along, the weekend is here! I should call Friday my weekend since that's when it usually starts for me and others.

Friday was just a day spent around establishments near the Fan such as Chilis @ VCU, Roxy's, Mulligans, and Baja Bean. Fun times all around enjoying an adult beverage, chatting up with friends, enjoying some karaoke nonsense on the microphone, and some laughable memories that I won't forget.

Then comes Saturday. My gal and I decided to roll out Richmond for a day and relax in Essex with her brothers. For those that don't know what Essex is, imagine the country and a lot of sun; Yeah, I call it relaxation. Along with the relaxation part of that last sentence involves a few beers, a golf cart, and the great outdoors. I loved it.

I like having a good time but I also think that sometimes getting away from the city is great from time to time. As a guy that was raised from the projects, country, and city limits...I've seen quite a lot in different scenery. Everyone has their main spots in their location that they go for a laugh, a date, a good time, etc. But going outside your boundaries can be a great experience to just get away from the regular routines.

So spice things up and go outside. You won't be disappointed.

Motives On Tap 3

Never try to be the baddest, the coolest, or try to live outside your boundaries. Work hard and be happy with yourself.

I made too many mistakes that I just couldn't make right.
Should've been more focused than I take things light.
When I'm gone, this is what ya'll will say I was like.
An arrogant fool, no not that baddest or cool.
Just a big fish caught up in the shallowish pool.

Motives On Tap 2

Everybody falls down, just remember that not all get back up.

And when they push you down, you got to get back up.
And when they push you down, you got to get back up.
Push the dirt off your jersey, then go for the cup.
Or the trophy or the ring, champion no matter what.

Bump

" 'Cause when you got the belt and the ring, People with ya poppin' bottles, takin' pictures, look around. As soon as you fall down all the haters pass a judgment; All eyes on me, I'm here to show that I'ma rise above this." -T.I.

It sucks when you fall, just make sure that when you do...you get back up.

Hello Out There.

Can You Here Me?

Being pressured of the everyday is tough,

Especially when you need emergency luck.

Strolling in uniform with that salty grin,

While moving forward as the walls closed in.

They slowly crept closer, now they’re in the 6th gear.

Smelling false hopes, empty pockets mixed with fear.

Transforming into a concrete air bubble.

With the objective to make you submit.

The mind of man is running rapid,

Mentally coming up with escapes.

But these blueprints of old become rigid failures,

As the walls grow taller.

Feeling overwhelmed as if a gunman is holding you ransom.

Shedding tears of dread because you can’t handle.

He’s asking are you ready to die?

Hammer is cocked as you look hopelessly to the sky.

Every breath and swallow is more difficult than the last.

Wishing that a solution would appear fast.

Closing your eyes awaiting that killer sound.

Pleading that your brain won’t scramble to the ground.

It seems there is no exit. No hope of revival.

Looks like you’re out of elixirs and 1Ups in Survival.

Memories of your family, friends, and events start rolling inside.

Like a documentary film broadcasting your life.

It seems as if the calling is taking forever.

Now I know something’s tricky as I patiently wait.

As this gunman aims his Chrome .48.

Waiting for the sound, and taking possibly my last swallow too.

But he is having trouble with his follow-through.

Picking me out of a crowd of thousands, looking for a target.

Not a rich entrepreneur or a homeless bum on the corner.

No…a kid trying to prove everyone wrong. Doing almost everything right.

Aiming for their hopes and dreams and nearly in sight.

A moment that’s putting everything on pause.

Instead of climbing, crash and fall.

But time on the side is taken to rebuild and heal.

Because when ready, the road will be burned by the wheel.

The gunman has a change of heart. The concrete starts to break.

He lowers the weapon and the walls starts to shake.

By a miracle, the rays of the sun hits.

Which is all the motivation he needs to lift.

Another bump in the road. As a turn is made back towards the previous.

Looking beyond the horizon.

The kid is still mentally damaged but things start to go the right way.

As he keeps struggling on, working towards that perfect day.

MotiTunes!: Wake Up!

"Yes I realize just what I've become, I take that shit head on, oh however it come. Got my direction back, all my friends are around, I feel the change, I feel alive, I feel the lights, I feel the sound." -Pepper

So I was strolling around the city of Richmond after a hard day of work and I turned on my satellite radio to the Rock channels just to hear what was on. Story of The Year, Ozzy, and a little Slash mixed with Metallica put a smile on my face for awhile.

Then all of sudden I heard "Wake Up" by Pepper and my ears were amazed by the sound of the band! It's the type of music you would hear on the beach while walking through the sand and looking out to the waters on a beautiful day that damn near felt perfect.

And similar to the song, I thought Pepper was perfect with the lyrics, beat, and overall message. I definitely recommend giving this guys a listen not just to their awesome song "Wake Up" but also they're EP, Stitches.

Links at the Bottom....great song, inspirational lyrics, and just flat out awesome!!!
Take a listen, your ears will thank me. :)

And if your feelin' like you don't belong,
It's time to step into a brand new dawn.
You found the light now come and turn it on,
Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!

PicTivate: Photoshop!

Besides my love for my loved one, video games, VCU Basketball, and poetry....Photoshop is definitely one of my top 5 favs.

I enjoy looking through photos of mine and reliving memories but I also like taking photos and seeing what I can do with them to make them even more unique with my style.

So for this version of PicTivate! I just decided to uploaded a pic of me dancing in a local bar called Mars. When I was fooling around in Photoshop, I had to make another version because I thought both colors were pretty good and stood out to me separately.

I loved this photo because it's just a random photo of one of the many good times I've had there...so far. You just gotta love photos that bring a smile to your face :)

Cat Has My Tongue For a Reason...

"There is a reason why I don't like talking, it's because people get hurt if I truly express my feelings. But it's aggravating when the rare times I actually want to express my thoughts; you're door is closed." -Kazie

My head is in a tornado warning right about now. Things seem to go great by actions but truthfully I'm miserable.

I hate...no, despise....being told what I can't do and being judged for my actions that I and probably other people think aren't a big deal. But no worries, as a person that is capable of hiding things for a significant amount of time I move on as if your words of negativity don't bother me.

But there comes a time when I reach full capacity and have to unleash in order to get the depression back on E. And when that happens, that is when I become unfriendly. I ignore the warnings, the flashing redlights, and just zero in and make my thoughts known.

So this wouldn't be a problem right? Far from it.

I'm not the only one that does this. In fact I'm confident that someone reading this blog is probably doing this right about now involving a friend, a loved one, a parent, or whoever. I want to inform you that you have a legit reason for holding your tongue right now...you want to make that person on your mind happy.

It sucks trying to please everybody. But sometimes holding back can help a tad for a few precious moments. My advice right here would be to try and let go but we all know that's more difficult than finding World Peace in the UN. I'm an expert at acting when I just want to be left alone but there comes a time where you just need to go away from it all to rebuild yourself.

This is one of those times for me, I just want everybody to be happy. Even if that means that I have to sacrifice my happy in order to lend a hand to someone that truly needs it.

Until then...my hand is occupied as I rebuild.
One Love.
