"Anyone who says they're not afraid at the time of a hurricane is either a fool or a liar, or a little bit of both." -Anderson Cooper
Irene is coming.
It's already hit around Florida and lower parts of the Eastern Coast pretty hard. Now it's currently around Hatteras Island and the Outer Banks in North Carolina heading towards Virginia and the upper East Coast.
Virginia and North Carolina is where Irene will be making it's mark on Saturday as it keeps moving up North and it sems to be picking up speed. But it should be out of the area later this Saturday evening.
According to weather experts, Irene should be making a trip to the Jersey Shore on Sunday afternoon just in time for Sunday Dinner at the Shore House. Then is expected to be a bit more calmer heading to the Big Apple but still dangerous with wind speeds up to 75 MPH.
Early Monday morning Irene should be close around the Maine state line getting a few greeting cards before it leaves the United States and makes the trip into Canada. Experts believe the Category 1 Hurricane should become demoted to a tropical storm by this point; we can only hope so.
Just wanted to say that I hope you people are safe and prepared if you are in Irene's path. Thankfully, it changed to a Category 1 Hurricane instead of the Category 3 it started as; hopefully that's a great sign that everything will be fine during the storm.
Don't do anything stupid such as making a trip to the beach. Seriously? There's a storm out with about 75 MPH winds. Pretty sure you can wait on working on your tan or playing some beach soccer for a few days.
Be safe people.
