A Weekend of H.A.V.O.C.

HAVOC is definitely the best way to describe my weekend.

In a good way of course.

The first blessing is that I did not have to punch in at work.

High Five!

The second blessing is that one of the best mid-major basketball rivalries was scheduled for Saturday with VCU taking on Old Dominion. Now for those that know me very well as being a student at this fine university rockin' the black and the gold...you know how excited my Saturday was going to be!

There was so much school spirit flowing across Monroe that you thought that we beat Kansas and that we're rushing Broad Street to celebrate going to the Final Four....again. Yeah, that's how much; It was a fun day to be a Ram fan.

Before, during, and after the game I enjoyed myself to the fullest. From pre-gaming with some of my close friends mixing breakfast creations alongside with waterfalls and Mario Kart (you know..typical college stuff) all the way to the actual game itself. Which by the way we won 61-48 just in case you were actually wondering about that statistic.

It was a glorious Saturday. Sunday was what I liked to call Lazy Sunday since I really didn't feel like doing anything but get food, watch sports, play video games, hang out with my girlfriend, and sleep....lots and lots of sleep haha.

Cheers to the Weekend.

Cheers to today which involves myself and a busy schedule involving work, class, and yet another basketball game to attend to.

Nothing but some good ol' fun for this kid today!

Probably gonna substitute the waterfall for some actually water today...don't want to go to overboard.

Enjoy the start of your week!

Dream, Work, Hustle, Conquer. (On Tap 47)

Rome wasn't built in a day.
Neither was the United States.
Or the Golden Gate Bridge.
Or New York City.
Or I-95.
Or a family home.
Or an automobile.
Or a human.

See what I'm getting at? No? Simply put...things take time and a hell of an effort and work load in order to be a success.

Only a few things come as handouts but in order to get the fruits of whatever it is that you are dreaming of, you must be dedicated.

You must be able to figure out what it is that you need to do.

And finally...you must actually do it.

Dream big, work harder.

We all have strength.

You don't need a chiseled chest or a ripped back or 22 inch pythons on your arms to show the world that you have strength. All these upgrades might be impressive on looks; it don't mean a damn if you don't have any will, power, or heart to back those up.

Strength lies within every single person on this planet. It can be physically or mentally and yes you can have both! They are shown during times of joy and ecstasy but they are a godsend in times of horror and doubt.

So which is it?

Do you want be see as a weak minded organism or can you visualize yourself as being a godsend?

A person that mops around in grief and false hopes when things go south or someone that picks up the pieces and rebuilds towards making something achievable?

You want to let the world define you or do you want to let the world know how you define yourself?

It takes confidence. It takes character. It takes swag. It takes strength.

Sunday On The Road, Monday In The Office

Hey out there!

You ever had one of those days where you just meet up with friends and hit the road? Well that was my eventful Sunday starting at the break of dawn; We gathered in a minivan and hit the road up to Philadelphia, PA.

Some might be wondering why already since it was a Sunday and the Wild Card Playoff games in the NFL were in full swing and just because it might be an odd day for a roadie. Well simply put: VCU was playing Drexel and what else is there to do on a Sunday?

It was quite an entertaining trip. From the 4+ hours on the road, to the random 90s music sing-along/freestyles thanks to 90s on 9 via Sirius, to the pit stops, to the Party Rockin in the bathroom (more on that later), to the actual basketball game, and all the hilarity in between.

Events such as this can really make a person feel whole with a few laughs on the road and some good ol' times kicking it with a few of your closest pals. Don't let events like this skip by like rocks skipping across the lake because eventually the opportunities will cease to exist.

Like my bio says...live each day like it's your final boss battle.

Enjoy life everything single day to get the full appreciation of how valuable time really is.

Now back to the party rocking...word of advice. If you have the
"Party Rock Anthem" set as your ringtone make sure you don't have it set to loud while you are in the middle of occupying the toilet and it goes off at random.

Especially in a Pennsylvania Rest Area.

Especially when you are not the only one in the restroom.
Especially if people start singing and shuffling in their separate rooms when the beat drops.

Well...the third one is acceptable. Haha.

Sunday was indeed a fun day.

Monday is a work day but hey...gotta put in the work in order to enjoy the fun.

Enjoy yours...I'm gonna get back to shufflin' in the office.

The first one of the New Year! Woot!

Was listening to "Take From Me" by Bad Meets Evil when I heard this very creative and truthful lyric by Royce Da 5'9" aka the Bad One. And I thought it would be a great start to this year's On Tap entries.

Not everyone on this planet will be your friend.
You will have people that want you to fail.
Kick the fake friends to the curb, keep the true ones.

If I gotta lend you money every time
I see you just to be your friend, bitch, I don't really need your friendship.

Tips To Help You KEEP Your Gym Resolution This Year

For the record...this is not me. :P

But this pic has something to do with my post today. With all the 2012 hoopla and resolutions going out of people's mouths left and right, one of the most popular ones out of the bunch states about more exercise this year.

Whether you just want to work on going to the gym regularly, lose some weight, gain muscle, or just see what the rave is all about...it's a good resolution to pick. That is if you are dedicated to it.

What I mean by dedication is not going nonstop to the gym for a month and say "I'm Done" and let the other 10-11 months slip by. The gym can be a very fun place to burn calories, gain some muscle on your chest, firm your bootius maximus, and introduce yourself to a new body that you will adore (and others will as well!).

So let's say you are a noob stepping into this new territory. Here's a few tips for your first road trip.

  • Keep it Simple At First. You may want to do a million things or just do one and get out the door as quickly as possible. But on your first run through things, do exercises that are simple. Such as run the treadmill, lift a weight or two, or even play some basketball or go for a swim. You don't want to go too crazy out of the gates.
  • Have a Game Plan. Before you step in, plan accordingly. Ask yourself: How much weight do I want to lose? Where do I want to gain muscle? Where do I want to build strength? Do I want be able to run faster? Cardio or Strength Training for today? There are hundreds of questions to ask yourself...answer them before you make the trip, make a plan, and attack!
  • It's Okay To Stare. Not like that creep...while you are working out, look around to see what other exercises people are doing. If you see one that you are interested in, then go for it! It's okay to experiment and add flavor to your routine. Doing the same routine over and over again gets repetitive and that's another factor on the likelihood someone quits the gym resolution. Also, ask the person doing the exercise a question if you have any. Who knows...you might find a gym buddy by starting a conversation.
  • Stay Dedicated. Rome wasn't built in a day; neither was your body. It actually took months in case you where wondering. Don't expect mind-blowing changes in your first few days; if you do you will be disappointed and want to quit. DON'T QUIT! Stay the course, keep working, and changes will come your way just like that!

Follow these tips and you will be satisfied with your progress. You even might call the gym your second home! As you continue later on, remember to add some variety like I stated earlier...got to keep your body guessing from time to time.

How long you should workout for? Hmmm...I would say around an hour unless you want to do more. And try to workout at least 3-4 days per week. You can dedicate at least an hour for yourself right?

Other than that...make sure you pack a water bottle, a towel, and some deodorant. Now get on out there!! You got some work to do!!!

1 Down, 364 to Go.

Hey Hey Hey!

Just finished up the tutorial for this 2012 update thing. Now I just need to plug up the controller...(bang! bang! click!)...there we go!

Alright, all set up! Hope things are starting in a positive way to start up the new year for you. Been keeping myself busy at my job and all along with other side quests and such. But all and all, I'm happy to be alive to see another year to kick things off.

Resolutions wise I don't really have any for this year except just to take more time for myself to keep me happier and to just be a better person. Yeah...sounds complex and boring I know but hey; not really into saying that I'm going to go to the gym more then just got for a month then call it quits scenario to say that I kept my resolution. If this is you, don't do it!

Other than that...one day is in the books. We got 364 more to go!

Remember to add a little bit of fun, happiness, and excitement in each day to fully experience 2012 to the fullest!!!
